** Be specific in your assignments to your kids.**
My kids know they have a list of things that they need to do before they are allowed to play video games or watch T.V. Yet somehow they forget those things if I don't specifically mention it on the weekends. I will run errands sometimes on Saturdays so my husband is around to watch the kids and sometimes I will leave a checklist of things for each kid to do. Almost without fail though, if I don't put something simple on it like "make your bed", which is one of the chores they should be doing every day, I will come home and find them playing video games and their bed is not made. Their response- "You didn't tell me I needed to make my bed..."
